In the initial stages of detoxification health programs, rest takes priority over physical exertion. Allowing the body to conserve as much energy as possible is important for internal "housecleaning".

Let's clariry that, absolutely, some people, depending on their state of health, may benefit tremendously from gentle walking, light swimming, qigong, tai chi, yoga, and similar practices, while others are encouraged to give their body a full break for a period of time.
